Inspiration

Over the past couple of years, I have shared about what inspired me to write and create the Kammer Family series, and all their adventures. When I was a child, my own favorite adventures took place on our family ranch. Our grandpa lived alone on the ranch, as my grandma had passed away many years before I was born. I could see how much my dad loved his momma. He always spoke very affectionately about her. The first time I ever saw my dad cry was when we visited her grave all together. It touched my heart deeply.

Through the years I imagined my grandmother as a loving and kind person. I heard stories about her baking skills from various relatives. I wished so much I could have known her, and had the opportunity to call her, “Grandma.”

Creating and developing the character, Suzanah Klein Kammer, has been a fun way to honor my grandmother. All the goodness I imagine in her comes out in Suzanah. I feel closer to her, and I hope she and my dad are cheering me on as I continue creating their story.
