To continue my character sharing, this month I will be sharing about Alexander Shane Kammer, the father (Poppa) and patriarch of Kammer Ranch.

I am sharing, here, about one of my favorite characters, Suzanah Grace Klein Kammer, the momma of the Kammer family. As her personality developed, I found myself blending my grandmothers, my mother and myself into Suzanah. The common thread is how much she loves her family. 

Here we go again, thinking about the New Year and what we might do better, or different after January 1. 

I have to confess; I have never been good at sitting and reading a book for any length of time.

I have been thinking about blogging this topic for some time. When I first thought of it, I was thinking about faith and all that goes with it. We cannot see “faith,” yet we believe it to be “real.” Or do we? Do you?

Over the past couple of years, I have shared about what inspired me to write and create the Kammer Family series, and all their adventures.

I love this time of year. There is nothing I dislike about the season of Fall.

I truly have two “modes” in life. In my free time I totally LOVE being an author. I am still amazed to say I am a published author. In my “Author Mode” I am inspired, and it feels natural to “Just Write.”

My last book signing took place in a community full of people I did not know. As shoppers / book readers stopped by my table, I had the opportunity to share all about my book, Into the Canyon. It was a wonderful experience.

How does a writer know what to write about? Where do the ideas come from?

A few months ago the sweetest, best little poodle who ever lived, crossed the rainbow bridge. This little poodle was more than a pet. She was special. She was therapeutic. Not just for her favorite human, my daughter, Vanessa, but she also got me through many important events in my life.

Each and every day we create something. Whether it is creating a delicious meal or planting a new garden. It’s about creating.

The last year has taught me a lot about my faith and what church has to do with faith. What I have learned is that church is not about faith.

Someone recently made a comment about me (to someone else) using the two words “quiet” and “savage.” My initial reaction? “I LIKE it!”

The “In Between Time” is where I find myself right now. I wrote my first book, finished, and published it in 2023, then I finished the second book (in the trilogy) recently (2024).

For most of us women, friendship is an important part of our lives. For some it may be as important as finding a soulmate.

As I add words to this blank canvas, I am imagining an artist, brush in hand, in front of a blank canvas. I imagine the artist’s hand quivering ever so slightly as the tip of the brush changes everything on that blank canvas from white to whatever color is about to drip off that brush. Oh, the anticipation!

Whatever you are writing, whatever the current project, talking about it with others helps keep it fresh.

Two years ago this month my daughter and her husband began fostering a sweet baby boy on his second day of life. He turned out to be one of the sweetest little guys ever, and a special part of our family.

Finding your Inner Writer when you know she is in there can be difficult or overwhelming. Being coached through that can help, but the real work comes in each of us personally overcoming the doubts.
