Lately I have been thinking a lot about the writing process.

The whole country, more like the whole world has felt the loss of Dolly Parton within the past few weeks. She was special. She was magical.

I remember with my first book, Into the Canyon, how nervous I was for the editing to start. I had no idea how my writing would come across to others.

July always seems to bring too hot of temperatures, and I tend do everything to avoid getting out in it, unless it is something refreshing like a swimming pool.

I really thought my third book would be done and printed and published by now.

When a big life event happens, I truly don’t get the same kind of inspiration I get when life is moving along, and all is “normal.” 

Every year as we get closer and closer to the season of Fall, I begin to anticipate how fast it will fly by. Because it is my favorite season, I want it to last as long as possible.

The mornings here are crisp and cool and motivates me especially as a writer.

If I had a chance to have coffee with one of my characters, I would want it to be Suzanah Grace Klein Kammer.

This quote could go in so many directions by changing the word “villain” to whatever it is that may be heavy on our hearts. Maybe your word is “victim” or something a little less intense such as “pushover” or “whiner.” While some words sound a bit lighthearted, they can hold their own weight when feeling pushed around or a trendier tone such as “bullied.” 

Over the years, as I have been creating characters, when I think back it feels like my characters have always existed, at least in my head.

We finally did it! We spent time at Fiestas in Mora County, NM, at the end of July.

Northern New Mexico is a great place to visit during the summer months. There are plenty of outdoor events to stop by and visit. 

We often hear ourselves, or others, talk about having a happy place. We can feel and see the joy in the words. I was thinking about this phrase, “My Happy Place” recently. My happy place has always been “Holman.” For me, the question makes more sense to say, “What is your Holman?” 

As a local (New Mexico) author, I have learned even more how important it is to support local businesses. Every state and town has them. It’s our jobs to support them.

It’s the first Saturday in May and we just watched the Kentucky Derby on the television. Besides watching the amazing and beautiful horses, I love seeing all the hats!

This month I am highlighting Nikola Kammer, the youngest child of Suzanah and Alex Kammer.

Each and every book that sells gives me goosebumps! I do not take it lightly.
