Writing Ideas

How does a writer know what to write about? Where do the ideas come from? 

It comes from passion and creativity. We write about stuff that is important to us. We write about things that we love. We write about things that fascinate us. 

A writing peer of mine shared with me how she loves to get lost in writing horror fiction. 

Personally, I absolutely love making up stories, creating characters and I especially love drama. The exciting part of all this is that while writers may share the same kind of passion, we do not all interpret our creativity in the same way. 

You will notice both obvious and subtle differences in writing styles. My singer song-writer son has pushed me to add more drama to my writing, and to avoid too much sweetness. I like sweetness but I appreciate being pushed. This helps me develop new ideas and to keep creating!
