Christmas, Family and a New Year
This time of year, I begin anticipating celebrating the birth of Christ, and spending quality time with family. It’s that time when we gather with those we love most and enjoy being together.
I love this time of year; however, this year will be the first year without my momma, and the fourth without my daddy. With my parents living in our house the last few years of their lives, our grown children and their children were able to spend time with them when they visited. It will be very different not having them here when we gather. But our memories will last and the love they started keeps us going. We will get together, share meals, stories, laughter and all the things that families do. I can’t wait!
The special love of celebrating Jesus’ birth also keeps us going. Like my husband, Vernon, said in a recent message at church, as Christians we celebrate His birth every day. This time of year gives us the time to focus on the tenderness of that night.
“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be upon His shoulders. He will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9: 6
While we enjoy the celebrations, we also close out the year and begin to look forward to a New Year, a new start and an opportunity to set goals and work towards fulfilling dreams. I am currently working on seeing one of my own dreams come to reality, in my new book. As I excitedly wait for publication, I am in awe that I have reached this point. I set a goal for myself at the beginning of 2021 to finish the book and look into what it would take to self-publish. It has been fun (and a little nerve wracking) to see this unfolding. I look forward to announcing the book in early 2023! At that point, I will begin working on my goals for books #2 and #3.
Life moves forward in the midst of exciting and challenging times. I pray you have more exciting and joyful times and less challenging. Through it all, I pray God remains close and if you ever want to try coaching, I am ready and willing to share that “Taste of Coaching” with you.
Until then, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
