What’s Church got to do with it?
The last year has taught me a lot about my faith and what church has to do with faith. What I have learned is that church is not about faith. I know how harsh that sounds and part of me believes it in that harsh sense. I truly do have good memories and experiences in church. Unfortunately, the most recent experiences are what drive my emotions about church now. I’m not so sure I will ever go back to being the every-week-church-go-er. However, that does not change my faith in the least. Personally, I find my faith to be stronger than ever, but that’s just me and my story.
My own faith grew out of my personal relationship with God. It began for me in my childhood. I had several experiences that deepened my faith as I grew up. As an adult it has continued to grow. Faith is not something that stops unless we stop it. Having faith comes with having a desire to believe and to keep learning. I have a daily routine where I give myself time to focus, to pray and to keep my faith nourished. I have to admit, some days may be a little dry but because I keep doing it, I have made it a part of my daily life and I will keep trying.
